Internet Marketing Strategies - Building a Squeeze Page That Converts

You want to build a list...so you are going to build a squeeze page. You have seen lots and lots of examples out there of squeeze pages and various opt-in forms...so how do you know what is the right style to follow? Different people have different ideas...different internet marketing strategies...when it comes to the squeeze page. Bottom line, the strategy that matters is building a squeeze page that converts! Since list building is my specialty, let me tell you what works-based on my experience!

Have you ever gotten a great email from somebody...one where you get really excited about what they are offering...so you go out to their squeeze page only to find they are asking you for a ton of personal information? Wow. If you are like most people, you put on the brakes really fast!

That approach just doesn't work...it is getting way too personal way too fast! Nobody wants to give up a lot of personal information just to find out about a product they might want to buy. I'm guessing here, but I suspect the people who create those pages are getting way fewer sign-ups then they would like. I know they are getting way fewer sign-ups then I do!

There are only two things you should be asking for on a squeeze page...at first anyway:

1. First name
2. Email address

Think about how you felt when you were faced with an opt-in box that wanted to know more than that. Remember that feeling and now put yourself in your customer's shoes...do you think they might be feeling just like you were? Here are some of the questions that will probably run through their minds

* Why do they need to know my physical address? Are they going to sell my information to a junk-mail list?
* Why do they need my phone number? Are they going to call me? I don't want to be called...I'm on the National Do Not Call list!
* And why on earth do they need my social security number? I mean Nobody gets my social without a secure connection and a really, REALLY good reason.

Look...none of these pieces of information are appropriate for list building...in fact they will decrease the effectiveness of your list building efforts.

Do you really think if somebody has these kinds of questions in their head they are going to give you ANY information? Not likely. They don't trust you...it isn't personal...they don't know you, so why should they trust you?

Once you are on the payment screen...once they have decided to buy your product, then it might be that you need some of that information...if you are mailing a CD or DVD or something for example, you will need a physical address. Then-and only then-it makes sense to request the info.

The best internet marketing strategies are ones that work...and if you follow this advice you will be list building because you have built a squeeze page that asks for only what is important!
